A target is Defenseless when they cannot make a meaningful Active Defense, such as when they are unconscious, restrained, helpless, unaware of the attack, or otherwise unable to react.
The attacker gains +20 to their Success Target, but must still succeed on the attack roll.
A Defenseless target makes no Active Defense, but still benefits from Passive Defense normally. Roll any Passive Defense Bonus Dice and compare the resulting Hits to the attacker’s total Hits.
If Passive Defense equals or exceeds the attacker’s Hits, the attack is stopped. Otherwise, the remaining Hits become the attack’s Net Hits.
A target who was unaware of the attacker is normally alerted after the attack resolves unless the circumstances clearly allow the attacker to remain undetected.
