Characters can suffer injuries, incapacitation, ongoing conditions, and other forms of harm. These effects are represented primarily through Wounds, which measure the severity of injury and other serious harm rather than tracking a pool of Hit Points.

Wounds can impose penalties, cause lasting injuries, and eventually leave a character unable to continue. Recovery depends on the severity and nature of the harm, as well as treatment, rest, and other effects.

Severe Wounds may produce Critical Injuries, while Disease, Poison, and Toxins covers other biological threats. Death and Incapacitation defines what happens when a character can no longer continue.
