In Static Veil, machines do not need hands on controls to move through the world.
A person who operates a drone or vehicle remotely is a Jockey.
Drones patrol corporate campuses, carry freight through crowded streets, inspect infrastructure, shadow convoys, scout hostile ground, and watch from places people cannot safely reach. Most can navigate, follow instructions, avoid hazards, and manage routine tasks without supervision. What they cannot normally do is make the decision to kill. Lethal force still requires a Jockey to authorize each engagement, a restriction born less from ethics than liability.
Some Jockeys work at a distance through a Drone Rig, managing telemetry, issuing commands, coordinating multiple units, and running specialized Scripts. Others go further.
A Somatic Link, commonly called a Ghostwire, allows a Jockey to project their senses and motor control directly into a vehicle or drone. While Ghosting, cameras become eyes, microphones become ears, engines become muscle, and the machine responds as naturally as the Jockey’s own body.
The rules in this section cover commanding drones, coordinating drone squads, using Drone Rigs, autonomous systems, and Jockeys Ghosting vehicles or drones through a Ghostwire.
