A good operator carries more than weapons. Medical gear, electronics, breaching tools, scanners, restraints, climbing equipment, survival supplies, and countless other devices can matter just as much as armor or ammunition when a job goes wrong.

Some tasks require appropriate equipment. Without it, the GM may apply a penalty, increase the time required, limit what can be achieved, or rule that the task cannot reasonably be attempted.

Improvised or incomplete equipment may still allow an attempt when appropriate, but should generally be less effective than purpose-built tools.

Some equipment uses consumable supplies. These are tracked only when the item’s rules make depletion relevant.

Most equipment otherwise works as described in its individual entry.

Tools and Kits

Some tasks require proper tools. Without them, the GM may apply a penalty, increase the time required, or rule that the task cannot reasonably be attempted.

A Tool Kit contains the ordinary equipment needed to perform a particular kind of work. Examples include electronics kits, mechanical tools, armorer kits, medical kits, and similar professional equipment.

Individual kits may provide additional benefits or contain limited supplies when their entry states so.

Improvised or incomplete tools may still allow an attempt, but the GM should apply an appropriate penalty based on how unsuitable they are for the task.

Supplies

Some consumable resources are easier to track abstractly than by counting every individual use.

Supplies use a Supply Die that represents how much of the resource remains.

Supply Dice follow this progression:

d12 → d10 → d8 → d6 → d4 → Depleted

Each Supply states when a Supply Check is made.

Whenever that trigger occurs, roll the current Supply Die.

On a 1 or 2, reduce the Supply Die by one step.

On any other result, the Supply Die remains unchanged.

If a d4 is reduced, the Supply becomes Depleted.

The use that triggered the check is completed before the Supply is reduced.

Use exact quantities whenever the precise number matters. Firearm ammunition, grenades, magazines, and similar tactical resources should normally be tracked individually.

Supplies may be replenished through purchases, scavenging, crafting, transferring compatible resources, or other appropriate means. The amount restored determines how many Supply Die steps are recovered, up to d12.

Some reusable equipment may contain its own Supply pool. When that Supply becomes Depleted, the equipment remains usable but cannot provide any benefit that requires the depleted materials.

General Equipment Catalogue

Placeholder

The Static Veil general equipment catalogue will be added alongside the setting’s technology, manufacturers, and equipment lore.

The catalogue will include professional tools, medical equipment, electronics, infiltration and security gear, communications equipment, survival gear, containers, consumable Supplies, and other general-purpose equipment.
