Attributes represent a character’s fundamental capabilities. They describe what comes naturally before training, equipment, augmentation, or circumstance are taken into account.

Static Veil uses eight Attributes: Strength, Agility, Fortitude, Logic, Resolve, Charisma, Instinct, and Anima. Attributes contribute to Success Targets, determine several Sub-Attributes, and may also be used directly when no Skill applies.

Each Lineage has its own natural Attribute limits. These represent the range of capabilities normally possible for members of that Lineage. Some Lineages can naturally exceed human capabilities in particular Attributes, while others may have lower limits.

A character’s natural value is their Attribute rating before bonuses from augmentation, magic, equipment, or other temporary or external effects are applied.

Effects may increase an Attribute beyond its Lineage’s natural limits. Unless a rule states otherwise, an Attribute cannot be increased by more than 10 above its natural value.

Anima uses the same numerical scale as other Attributes, but represents something fundamentally different: the strength and integrity of the character’s metaphysical self.

Strength

Strength measures raw physical power. It governs lifting, breaking, carrying, grappling, and other actions that depend primarily on force.

Strength also contributes to close combat and other situations where a character must overpower physical resistance.

Agility

Agility measures coordination, speed, and physical control. It governs balance, precision, fine movement, and actions that depend on accurate or controlled motion.

Agility is especially important when avoiding danger, handling weapons, and performing tasks where timing and coordination matter.

Fortitude

Fortitude measures endurance and physical resilience. It governs stamina, resistance to pain, disease, toxins, exhaustion, and other forms of physical strain.

Fortitude also contributes to a character’s ability to withstand injury and recover from physical hardship.

Logic

Logic measures reasoning, analysis, and technical understanding. It governs deduction, problem-solving, research, planning, and interaction with complex systems.

Logic is particularly important for technical work, hacking, investigation, medicine, and other tasks that depend on knowledge or structured thought.

Resolve

Resolve measures willpower, discipline, and mental endurance. It governs resistance to fear, coercion, distraction, psychological strain, and other pressures that threaten a character’s focus or determination.

Resolve also reflects the ability to continue acting effectively under stress.

Charisma

Charisma measures presence and force of personality. It governs persuasion, leadership, intimidation, empathy, and the ability to influence how others perceive or respond to the character.

Charisma does not represent appearance alone. It reflects how strongly a character can project themselves in social situations.

Instinct

Instinct measures reflexes, intuition, and situational awareness. It governs reaction speed, perception, danger sense, and the ability to make quick judgments without deliberate analysis.

Instinct is especially important when circumstances change suddenly or information is incomplete.

Anima

Anima measures the strength and integrity of a character’s metaphysical self.

For Awakened characters, Anima governs their capacity to wield magic and sustain supernatural power. It also determines how much cybernetic and biological augmentation a character can endure before the connection between body, mind, and self begins to deteriorate.

Anima may also be tested when a character resists supernatural forces that directly threaten or alter their metaphysical integrity.
